Simple Harmony with Sunny Yellow in this Room...

I was having a read about adding colour to my home when I came across this breath-taking setting on better homes and gardens. What made my heart skip a beat are those three vases on the table. Think of what's normally done: All these flowers clustered in a big vase and centered on that table. A very easy and simple variation has created magic in this space. Different blooms of the same sunny yellow colour are divided in to three simple glass cylinder vases. Carrying this to that next level, a special touch is given with just a simple patterned paper/fabric draped around each vase. That too of course in that stunning sunny yellow accent colour.

I feel these easily-put-together harmonious vases are a great companion for my gorgeous Abagail throw pillows!

Beautiful and sunny Abagail cushions are accenting my living room at the moment. And it will be very easy to replicate these vases to enhance the 'touch of sun'.

To take more from this stunning setting, see how the accents are in three's. There are three vases. Three pictures. and most likely three hanging lamp shades (one seems to be cut off in this picture). This harmony of 'repeating in three' adds comfort and balance to this space.

Also lets get an idea of how colours are balanced here. The majority colour you see is the Grey of the wall, say about 50% of the space. Then about 20% brown/copper from furniture and floor. Then the all important ACCENTS! About 15% each of Sunny Yellow and Olive Green. Opposites on the colour wheel - therefore creating drama and interest, yet so complimenting towards each other.

It's clearly not an exact science. And it's very much dependent on personal choice as well as what we already have at home. But we can take a leaf out of these master-pieces to make our small efforts truly shine.
